Who has the better season

No, I'm serious. I just wonder if when Alabama goes 7-5 or 8-4 next year with a new quarterback, if all the Saban-gobblers will go ahead and swallow his load and drop off of his jonhson.

That's not the question. I think LSU '09 will be head and shoulders above Bama '09. I just wonder if anybody thinks Bama will have a better team next year than we do this year. Because they're wrong if they do.

Bama 09 will have a better season than us this year. They will be breaking in a new QB but their defense will probably be lights out which should keep them in just about every game and win them a few. When you play GREAT defense, you always have a chance of winning most games.
Imagine where we would be this year if our D was playing lights out. UF MIGHT have beat us but UGA wouldn't have. Bama will not play UGA next year and will get us in Tuscy. So they will still have a great opportunity of having a pretty good season.

Why is the overall feeling on this board that alabama is not going to have as good as team as they do this year?
I think Alabama is an elite team. But they are an elite team because they play good defense, run the ball, and control the line of scrimmage. Their qb play is good, but not great.
I don't see their defense or lines getting worse, and may play better. Since they control the line of scrimmage, they will be able to run the ball.
So I guess everyone thinks they will stink at qb.
They have a blue chip qb prospect on that team now. Star Jackson was about a top 10 qb recruit last year. They have a commit from another blue chip qb prospect for this year, and they have a solid JPW like qb on the team recruited a few years ago.
Their qb talent is going up and their need for a good qb decreases the better their defense gets and the better their running game gets.
I think Alabama is here to stay for a while. I don't think this is a one year and out type of team.
But as far as saying will LSU 08 be better than bama 09 is kinda apples and oranges. I think the SEC is a bit down this year. The Big 12 to my chagrin may be the best conference in college football. I think the SEC is back on top next year, so being a 3 loss team in a better SEC may still mean they are a better team.
We have not beaten a currently ranked top 25 team. Who have we beaten? SC is our best win this year. We could finish without beating a real top 25 team this year. That does not make us a great team.
I think Bama will still have an elite team next year. Will they be undefeated this far into the year next year? I don't know. But I suspect they will be right around where we are this year at the worst and could still be up at the top.
The SEC west will be a two horse race next year, and it will likely be us and them.

How could anyone possibly know the answer to this question? There are too many variables to consider. If someone would have come on this board last year and said that Bama had a chance to go undefeated in 2008 you all would have laughed. Half of our team could get arrested between now and then. Kirk Herbstreit could give Les Miles another job this December. Nick Saban could be coaching Washington and Oakland at the same time next year.
In August 2009 this question would be worth discussing.
