The 5.0 is an excellent engine, just don't let the trucks computer tell you when to change the oil. Just do that between 3k and 5k miles, and you'll be fine. The only real issues they've had is oil pressure problems due to worn cam bearing journals, caused by excessive miles between oil changes. While the oil will still technically be within spec, there's a lot of combustion byproducts in it by 10k+ miles. Oil and a filter are relatively cheap insurance.

You sure you aren’t referring to the 5.4L Triton? It has this issue and is notorious for it.

Anyway, I have a ‘22 with the 5.0L. Only have 600 miles on it, so I’m no help here. But the more you research the 5.0L, the less concerns you should have with it. I love it so far, and it sounds fantastic.
