I disagree slightly on Jane. While they presented her as more human, she wasn't the bumbling buffoon they've turned Thor into. Her presentation was far more of a straight-forward action hero (although eventually tragic) whereas Thor was presented as a happy goof who somehow bumbles his way through winning. Her presence detracted from his by highlighting the massive discrepancy in presentations.
Note, this really has nothing to do with Jane being a woman, just being a more heroic presentation of Thor.
