Anybody else looking forward to this one? I get the feeling it could be really good.

There have already been two versions. The classic original and the very good American remake. All they did with this series is replace the white characters with ethnic ones. Does that really make the story better? No thanks. I'll take a hard pass.

It's a 10 episode hour long per series. Can't just copy a 2 hour movie bro it wouldn't work.
Whether it's good or bad no one knows yet. If it was a Disney series with 6 episodes at 30 min a piece i would understand your thinking but that's not the case.

I've read the novel and have seen both movies. It doesn't require 10 hours to tell the story. Once again, all they did was brown wash the white characters and they're trying to pass it off as a "fresh" take. No thanks.
Eli was a boy dressed as a girl in the novel and the original film. They gender swapped the character to a girl in the American remake, and it worked. What's the point in making Oskar (Owen) black and Eli (Abby) Latino, other than to woke it up.

You maybe right but i do like the actor that plays the father. And showtime has made some quality shows.

when i heard they were milking the story for a third time i kinda rolled my eyes, but that trailer looks pretty interesting. will def be giving it a shot.

Oh really, didn’t know they were making a show out of this. The original Swedish version is fantastic, but not sure about a show. It could get really, really horrific, but I’m willing to bet they don’t do the trans angle here like they did with the original film.

Ok, so it’s this bullshite, which is not surprising. “Let the Right One In” is in my film collection and is just great. “Let Me In” isn’t terrible, but I don’t think it holds a candle to the original kind of like the Oldboy remake.

It doesn't appear so. Looks like they are taking their cues from the American film. The vampire child is a girl, but the "father" is her actual dad and not her human servant (familiar) like in the novel and previous versions.

I agree. That's what made the novel and two previous versions so tragic. Eli (Abby) will never age, but Oskar (Owen) will eventually take on the role of her "father" as her protector and supplier of human blood. Does she really love him, or is she just using him?

If it’s removed, then it’s no longer a horror film, IMO. That’s such a key detail that it changes the genre. It’s simply fantasy without this.

The story doesn't work without that. The realization that Eli has probably groomed multiple people over the centuries to be the "parent" and hunt adds a serious creep factor. Because then you have to go back through the entire movie and question all of Eli's actions up to that point. What is actually motivating the vampire? As you said, its just a fantasy series if you take that away.

Just finished the first episode. This show is unbelievably bad, just awful. It has very little in common with the previous versions other than the name
