Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (Netflix) - continuing Arcane's trend

Arcane established that you could, in fact, adapt a video game's lore into an incredible series. You just had to ensure that you weren't saddled with with the lore of the game itself, but rather use its world and mythology to build around it.
Both being on Netflix demonstrates that at least their animated division is dedicated to hitting homeruns.
While Arcane used characters from the game and wrote new stories around them, Cyberpunk: Edgerunenrs built stories around all new characters (with only a few secondary Night City characters appearing in the series).
Both have been HIGHLY touted by fans and critics (rare for both to be on the same page these days) - both with identical 100% from critics and 96% from viewers.
If you haven't seen it, I suggest you do. The show is so good that Cyberpunk 2077, despite being out for over a year, hit 1 million players daily and broke the 20 million copies sold mark. (It helps that CD Projekt Red stayed true to their commitment to fix the issues in the game, making it a very good gaming experience).
If you're curious if you have to play the game to get the anime, the answer is no. It's good a standalone as well.
Summarized:
It's really damned good. You should watch it.

Does it take place in or around 2077?

Show is fantastic.

The show is set in 2076, approximately 1 year before the events of the game.
You can find Easter Eggs for the various characters and events from the series in world.

Nope. It's way better than the launch with all the work they've done to it

Agreed. I waited until the ps5 version came out to play and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Just replayed it. Still bad. You can tell the vision way overshot their capabilities. Cut content is obvious, main story is meh, gunplay is very mediocre, and good god don’t get me started on the driving. The only thing it has going for it is the setting and art style.

As in are there important elements from the game in the series?
Yes. Nothing about V, of course (depending on your background V may not even be a resident of Night City during the events of Edgerunners). Don't want to give away too much though.
As far as the game, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love games with really interesting story elements (and I played it at launch with very few issues personally).

It's on Netflix. I'll add that to the OP as well.

PC and Series S
I feel like people just think it’s good now because it’s obviously better than it was at the laughably bad launch where they literally offered a refund to everybody that bought the thing and it got pulled from the PS store for being a huge piece of shite
It’s whatever. Glad people enjoy it because there are certainly cool elements within it but I think the flaws extend well past the bugs they patched.

Will the show inspire me to play that dumb game? I made it like 2 hours and threw it in the closet.
