I came across a thread a while back where Coach Chappy was boasting about his 699 Pros (I usually post as Circle G but Chicken has my account banned) and further investigation into them has them now in my bag. I've been impressed with Sub 70's irons and customer service so I was thinking about possibly investing in the driver if it can perform as well as the irons.

I am playing a Callaway Rogue and looking for a driver with a little better feel and even some distance. I have been eyeing the Ping G425 as well but am yet to hit it. Needless to say, with the price of the 849D, would this be a driver to consider that can hang with the in terms of length, feel, and performance with some of the bigger name brands?

Any feedback with anyone who is playing it would be thoroughly appreciated.

I know that Mark Calcavecchia used it on the Senior Tour along with another Senior Pro that I can't think of at the moment.

Sub 70 seems to make quality gear. Do they have a trial period / return policy ?

They will send you a demo for $20 plus a $200 deposit. If I am but I going to do all that, I would rather just buy it outright and hope for the best. Their company has been great as far as customer service, and they would probably let me send it back if I didn't like it. They've been like dealing with small town golf shop with the owner, and he's been pretty cool as far as sending a club back to try a different shaft in my 3U. I changed from a Dynamic Gold to an Elevate 95 to help with trajectory. I didn't like how light that shaft was, but I added some lead tape to get some more swingweight in çurrent setup.

At that rate, I would build and buy it. They have a 60 day money back guarantee. If the shaft is the biggest issue, they will swap it out. I've been eyeing it, and threatened my Tsi3 with being replaced. the TSi3 responded and started acting right.

If you are still looking for a shaft for the 3U

The MMT 80 works great, very stable, smooth with a good ball flight.

You have no idea if that's true without knowing his swing characteristics

I am being sent the 849 Pro demo with HZRDUS Black 6.0 shaft. I was wanting to try it with the Riptide shaft but the shaft options were limited. I'll let you know my thoughts on it when I get it.

However, my swing is not primed like I want it to be as work has me not being able to practice/play as much as I'd like.

I’m very interested in how it looks and plays.

Congrats on the 699 pros! They are straight gamers
