Seems like sponsorships and entree fees would pay for itself in police support, shutting roads down for 4-5 hours on a Sunday morning.

Most cops love things like this as it’s easy money and most are off duty anyways.

Police shortages are the only reason. I honestly can’t think of another reason they’d cancel and event like this unless there just wasn’t enough available resources (police) to cover it which is really sad and pathetic.

I was skeptical if 2023 viability, landing squarely on one of the largest convention weekends of the year. Hopefully the remaining years end up being a leverage move and playing hardball to get the route approved down the line, but not holding my breathe that it happens
