I’m going to do some dollar cost averaging but I’m ok with sitting out for a few months because I don’t think we are anywhere near the conditions we need to see for the market to start going up.

In addition, I want to have some cash on hand to take advantage of the massive discounts I think we are going to see on things like real estate and businesses.

Incorrect, cash is a great place to be if you're an investor (as opposed to a trader), at least as long as you are stockpiling that cash to buy up the deals once it seems the market has bottomed out.

The idea is to buy low sell high, not buy high then sell higher.

I sold off a chunk of my portfolio over the summer, I've moved a good amount into energy but I've set aside the rest and have added my bi-monthly allotments to that cash stockpile for when I think the market is about to turn or already has.

It would be an easy, big buy right here if Putin wasn't annexing territories this weekend and threatening encroachment with nukes (which seems like a very real possibility).
