Thank you, deltafarmer. I stand corrected on Lusco's in Greenwood. I didn't realize they had re-opened with in-house dining on Fridays and Saturdays.

I live in Greenwood. They haven’t re-opened. The owners are selling some stuff on the menu out of their house, but the in-house dining is definitely not opened.

OP, if you’re going to Viking Cooking School on a steak night, then plan on eating at Giardina’s also, don’t get the steak at Giardina’s. The steak you cook at the cooking school is better than the restaurant… Giardina’s steak is very peppery and buttery. I’m just not really a fan.

Giardina’s is technically an Italian place, I think, but I’ve never had any Italian food from there. I actually get the broiled shrimp app as my meal usually. It’s damn good.

If we want Italian food, we either go to Serio’s or drive to Leland and eat at Lillo’s.

If your staying by the Jackson Airport check Sheraton Flowood The Refuge Hotel. Only 3-4 miles away.
Just stayed there and it was nice, golf course on property that was pretty well maintained.

One other thing I should have said
Upgrade to the Luxury guest rooms if you don't have a suite
They are substantially bigger than a standard room, especially if your with others and want to visit

This would just be for a quick overnight on Thursday. Thanks for the hotel recommendation though!

Fly into Jackson, Delta flies 6-7 roundtrips daily from ATL on 717s. Stay a night in Flowood, which is where the airport is, then drive up I-55 to Greenwood. It's about an 1:45 min drive.

Alternatively, Contour airlines flies to Greenville (GLH) from DFW once or twice a day with EMB-145 jets. It's not too far from Greenwood and off the same hwy, hwy 82.
