I clean them on the spot. Have a ice chest at my truck. A couple weeks ago I did this with a hog and the meat was fine even though it took me two hours to get to the ice chest

Sounds good. I do have a truck hitch deer hanger I can use but it's a pain with my four wheeler hitch in the back alredy..already...

Gutting and ice in the cavity is a great idea.
