Same reason people have always tried to make themselves look like what their society/culture deems attractive.
Why did women in Victorian England dye their hair red with goat urine? Why did men in the 1920s wear three piece suits to outdoor ballgames? Why do so many bros spend two hours a day at the gym and put gel in their hair?
