This is incorrect. You are likely not using the correct ammo for deer hunting. Ignore all the match stuff, long range stuff, tactical stuff.
Shoot regular or premium 140gr or more soft points. Ideally 156's if you can find them.
6.5's have been immensely popular for elk sized game in Europe for a century now. With the right load, it's basically the perfect recipie for deer. And I say this as a dedicated Creedmoor hater.

This. The biggest problem with the creedmoor is the factory “hunting” ammo that companies choose to load are mostly rebranded target bullets that won’t perform but maintain the highest BC possible.

It is correct. I can only speak on my experience.
Using Hornady 143 gr ELDX. Specifically because it is one of the heavier hunting cartridges I can find for the gun.
