Les on the Georgia game:

“The story is the mistakes,” LSU coach Les Miles said. “When you play a quality opponent, you can’t give them turnovers. You can’t uncover people in coverage. You can’t let runs that should be tackled go untackled. Our football team has to learn that. That’s my job. I promise you I will go about teaching it.”

Yes, he will teach it. I love how teaching these fundamentals, where the whole team is making the mistakes, is something that Miles is going to fix.

LES....
Like the mistake of promoting two VERY under qualified members of your staff to the Def Coordinator position at a National Championship school.

And worse, is that he has waited until now to fix them. This is always my beef with Miles. He is reactive at best with anything and does not teach solid fundamentals. See the past 3.5 seasons with missed tackles, total brainfarts, being out of position.

I will say one thing, when I looked at the D first game of the season, how they flew to the ball against Appy State and Armanti Edwards had nowhere to run and the tackling was great, Appy coach even said so, I thought to myself this might be a special D, boy was I wrong.

Translated, it's a coaching deal... which Les may have to wait until after the season to deal with. No good leader calls out his staff in front of people. IMO we'll be hiring a new d-coordinator after the season.

He should have it corrected by 2010. It will take one more subpar season from Malloryveto to convince him to make a change. Buckle your seatbelts, Tiger fans. It is going to be a bumpy ride.

Since the season is already in the shitter, I think we should bench all 22 starters, make them run about 60 miles in full pads over the next four days of practice, then let them play scout team for the rest of the season.

I bet there'd be fewer mistakes if the price for them were higher.

I agree, he was just leting everyone know that he is aware of what the problem is and he will change it. If he doesn't hire a DC at the end of the year LSU has a problem in my opinion.

The fact is this isn't limited to starters. It's the whole team outside a few freshman.

We've had missed tackles for the past 3 seasons under Miles, and it will continue this year. The scheme simply worked decently for about 2 years until it was figured out. Now we don't have that to mask the issues.

What else do you expect him to say? YOu expect him to say he's pleased with the play of the team and there is nothing to work on?

I agree scoop we will have a huge problem and les is crazy bc he will be gambling his time here with not getting rid of them.

I like hearing him at least admit that coaching is finally a fricking a problem. this is much better than telling us that our lines played good at uf

So, who thinks he addresses the issues or REALLY believes it's coverage and tackling? I hope he realizes the confusion and players being out of place?

Fact is that he's going to fix this 8 weeks into the season, when its been apparent the past 3 seasons LSU players have tackling issues and we've been out of position on more plays than not the whole season.

Probably so. You know, if the QB situation becomes stable next year and we aren't spotting people a bunch of points we could actually begin to outscore people again and still win alot of games and it would get quiet around here again. our defense hasn't been in lockdown mode for awhile now....we just won anyway. I hope we make a change but I guess the rest of the season may help dictate that.
