YA Tittle and Pevory are in the Fail Museum...
I think I might actually read the Clouseau book. He wasn't that incompetent when he wasn't in a cartoon...and it might be more entertaining than the others...
Good stuff as always guys.

Great job NC ! The co-DC system falls under the
managment system of more bosses than employees
or philosophically under the old addage :
" Too many Chiefs and not enough Indians "
Two heads are not always better than one !

One final chapter to be written this off-season . . . hopefully.

Maybe cuz his pants fell down and he wasn't able to get the TD v. Ole Miss?

NC - I hope you don't mind me modifying yer image...if you do, I'll be happy to take it down. There seemed to be some confusion over the YA image, so I replaced it with a different FAIL... a la "Naked Gun 2 1/2"...
"Play our song"
- DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD!
"No, our other song..."
(Theme from Casablanca)

Not at all.
Dukakis works.
I was looking for "futility" and wanted something football related.
Corso was the other choice . . . just too nauseating.
The pic of Tittle is the consumate "agony of defeat" but IMO it's one of the classic futility photos of all time.
Tittle was an intense competitor who could never quite win a championship. The pain of it was how close he came on so many occasions. As he finished his career with the Giants, he lost the title game every year from 1961 to 1963.
The 1963 Championship Game was especially painful. Tittle was 37. It was his last realistic chance at a title. The Giants were the better team, but Tittle hurt his leg with the Giants leading 7-0. It appeared to sportswriters at the time that Chicago's offense was so inept that it couldn't score, and NY just had to play conservative, mistake-free ball to win. Instead NY continued passing the ball. They didn't have an effective backup QB though and decided to leave Tittle in struggling pitifully the rest of the game. Also Tittle insisted that he should play despite being hurt.
Then, like so many other time in YAT's career, misfortune intervened and the game started to unravel. Up 7-0 and with NY driving, he threw an interception that Chicago returned 60+ yds to tie the game. But NY came back, took the lead 10-7, and Chicago's offense could do nothing. Then late in the game, Tittle threw the worst of his 5 interceptions. The Bears returned it to NY's 1 yd line. It gave Chicago the win 14-10. That was YAT's last shot at a Championship. He threw his final int in the Bears' endzone to end the game. The kneeling picture was taken immediately afterwards. Consensus was YAT should not have played in the 2nd half of that game. He could barely put pressure on his left leg. Terrible coach's decision to leave him in. Terrible decision to keep passing under those circumstances. The agony in the YAT pic is in what might have been. (Similar to what might have been vs UGA.)
Even at LSU, Tittle had moments of famously bad luck and frustration. In a game at Tiger Stadium vs Ole Miss, he broke through the line and appeared to be easily in route to the winning touchdown. Unfortunately his belt broke as he ran down the field. While trying to pull at his pants and continue running, they fell to his knees. The Rebels caught him and tackled him short of the goalline and Ole Miss eventually won the game 20-18.

I was a nice pic, but you ruined it with tittle in there. Tittle played his heart out that game, he was the only player on the Giants that was performing and hadnt given up.
