it's a fantastic book. my only gripe is why the fat man wrote that before finishing the GOT series.

I could be wrong, but my guess is GRRM already had the outline for the book all written as he wrote the main story. It was probably to help keep all of his history in line. So, it's a lot easier to just complete that piece of literature instead of tackling a story he has no idea how to finish.

The fat man probably decided he had to redo everything after the bad reaction to the series ending.
