Ramsey had the field pre marked for distances.

Add in the lack of zig zaggin and having the target run straight away from you.

Kind of like the difference in shooting clays standing by the thrower versus off at an angle.

Was coming to say this. Huge difference hitting a kid running directly away from you in a field with distance markers vs. hitting a target on a real battlefield, running across your field of vision and zig zagging through cover.

What Ramsey did was more like the “hunt” in this episode than real battle. And he probably did it with better gear (particularly arrows) than these archers that have been holed up in a cave forever.

As someone else said there’s obviously a little bit of plot armor involved but I didn’t think it was egregious.

Anyhow, this was a good episode. Daemon’s response to the king’s offer of assistance was a nice twist. (I haven’t read the books so I have no idea whether this was already written.)

Seems like Viserys is probably gonna regret swearing on his wife’s memory at some point.

Well and there’s always just the element of sheer dumb luck. They were calling it a suicide mission beforehand. Daemon was willing to die in battle at that point after he felt like he was slighted and emasculated by his brother (being “saved”).

We’ve all seen far worse. Only drawback for me is I would’ve liked to have seen him chop that crabby bastard in half.
