Truth be told, the MPAA is very inconsistent with how it confers its ratings onto film. The documentary "This Film Is Not Yet Rated" did a very good job of explaining how some of the shite they do makes very little sense.

Saw Beast last week. It was fine and enjoyable but absolutely not worthy of an R Rating. Then I thought about it and Ghost and the Darkness was also R rated.

Those are both pretty soft PG13s without major gore, profanity, or sex.

Definitely a Lion maiming people but nothing worse than an avengers movie.
