It would have to get a hell of a lot cheaper. We were looking to take the Amtrak Acela train from NYC to Boston, traveling first class. Grand total round trip would have been over $1200. For that kind of money, they can kiss my arse, I'd rather walk.

Why are you taking first class on the Acela? The whole train is business class and perfectly fine.

It costs me around $140 R/T between NYC and DC. Spacious leather seats, cafe car, no airport/security, under 3 hours. Worth every penny and how travel should be.

Were you trying to buy the tickets the week of? I can usually get a decent deal on those tickets if you buy in advance. Don’t really need first class if taking Acela. All the seats are nice. Now the regional….you may want to up it to business class
