C. Michael or a shot at Lache?

Would you rather sign Michael this year or only sign 2 RBs and hope for a shot at LS next year?
I simply do not beleieve LS is going to come here if we sign 3 RBs this year. We only have one football to hand off. I think Michael is a really good RB, but I'd rather take my chances with LS next year. Thoughts?

In a perfect world I'd rather not stack up running backs in a class like we did with Scott, Williams and Murphy. You get a log jam then have trouble signing for a class or two after them.
Run the risk of being really young or even thin with an injury or academic losses.

I also think we have so many positions of need we could fill in this class...signing 3 RBs is excessive.

CM is a gamebreaker at running back, he is a must take if he wants to come here, he looks much more explosive and quicker than michael ford imo

The only thing that concerns me with Lache is will we use him properly and does he belong in a true spread option offense.

I do not deny this at all...the question is are you prepared to lose out on Seastrunk to take this kid? I don't think a great RB will look at LSU for 2 years if we sign 3 of the top 10 RBs in the country for 2009.

I think Lache, like Joe Mcknight will be on the field regardless of depth.
So come on down Lache and bring us National championships son.

Redshirts = golden
you know more than one will be RS'ed and some will change positions once at LSU.
Pratt shot at defense, and D Calhoun shot at WR or DB first.
While CM and Ford get the shots at RB first, then Seastrunck the next year.

No worry here...with lache's speed and quickness, you could put him in the slot or roll him out of the backfield...Lache=next Reggie Bush

It did stop Rb signing with usc. They pulled in 10 4* Running backs in 3 yrs. If Lache is not afraid of competition it will be all good. Im sure les will work his magic to convice him.

Lache is a special talent. I agree that regardless of depth, if a kid is that special, then he will find his way on the field. If he is as good as advertised then he should beat out the other RBs. That being said I would rather just take 2 RB, we dont need 3 in one class. Then again, I can still see how we would take either TR or CM in this class. I mean can you turn down either? Its a tough call. What if we only take 2, cant sign Lache or any other back next year and Ford or Pratt gets injured. Then we kick ourselves for turning down a 5* RB and being stuck with only 1 RB. My rule of thumb is you never turn down a top 50 talent regardless of your numbers. Just make em work.

Never pass on a great athlete for what "might be".

I have never understood why people think this way. These kids are competitors, their ego's thrive on taking on the best. If they want to play for a team that is worth playing on, there is battle already in place.
Having good depth also weeds out a lot of the kids we might not want to fool with.

Plus Pratt may not even end up at RB

Well take McKnight for example. He walked into a situation at USC with 4-5 All American HS RB who were also upperclassmen. Was he scared, obviously not. And now he starts over them all. Some even transferred because they were pushed further down the depth chart because of him. When you are good your just good and you will find the field.

Pass up on a 5 star RB CM this year, cause you might and I say might get Lache next year is crazy, you never know whose talent translates to the next level, Take CM this year and Lache next year, And don't worry, if Lache wants to be a tiger he will come ,competition does not scare these type atheletes away, they thrive on it beleiving that they are the beat at what thet do

After next year, we will be so young at RB that I doubt it matters. We will probably sign only 1 RB next year so that should placate the RB more than if we were to sign 2, including Lattimore.
