If I spend $265,000 to go to Liberal Arts U to get a degree in gender studies to work at Starbucks does that make sense?

That is one tired stereotype.

I went to the LSU graduation a couple weeks ago and was amazed that there were approximately 80 people graduating as Doctor of Philosophy. This is a degree that has absolutely no use outside of academia. The only other doctorates issued were for music. The vast majority of the masters were in some humanities as well as the bachelors.

How many of those with Philosophy and Studies degrees do you think are leaving with large amounts of debt but no viable employment skills?

I hope that all of them do well with their degree, but I don't think they will get much return on investment.

Almost all of them.

My sister graduated from PTS with an MA and MDiv and then received a doctorate from Hopkins which was an top 10 school in her field.

She taught in a non-tenure track at a school in the middle of nowhere for three years. If there’s nowhere for her, where are doctorates from NW Middle State teaching?

They aren’t. Eric Weinstein talks about the overproduction of the overly educated as creating a class of people who see themselves as victims.
