This time with China money

I'm sure you believe this was all in the works.

Higher purses, no cuts, only the top players, small fields, guaranteed money. Where have I heard that before?

Hahaha. No response? Just a down vote?

Higher purses
quote:How many are they adding? There are already a few with the WGC’s and Zozo and Sentry and whatever. I like cuts but I’ve never been upset at a tournament for not having them. What’s your point?
no cuts
quote:How is this similar to LIV? LIV’s field is pure trash.
only the top players
quote:How many of these are they adding and how many players will be in the fields?
small fields

Actually I like that fact that the Tour has varied fields, sometimes a diamond in the rough appears.
I always thought that the John Deere tournament would be a blast to attend.

And now the top Tour players will be in 60 man no cut events, the Majors and the Players. That's it. You watching the top guys will be almost exactly like if they were all on LIV outside of where they're playing.

It's almost exactly the same except 18 more holes

See above. You will only watch Rory, Spieth, JT, etc in no cut events and majors

And now the top Tour players will be in 60 man no cut events, the Majors and the Players. That's it.
Are you sure that NONE of the 16 or so guys forced to play in them won’t play in ANY other tour events?
Either way, even if it’s the EXACT same thing as LIV(which it isn’t) the fact that they’ll be tour events at already existing tournaments is a bonus over LIV.

I’m no fan of LIV, but this makes the PGA seem weak IMO. The fact that they announce bigger purses for tournaments and now this WGC knock-off looking thing so closely after LIV started poaching players seems like a desperate move. It may have always been in the works, but now it looks fishy. I’ve always been a big PGA fan. This is disappointing.

So you think these guys are just going to start playing 25+ events a year even though they've never done it in the past. You MAY see them one or two other times if they have a home town event or sponsor obligation ie Spieth at the Byron.

You mean 50 or 60 right? I think it's top 60 off of memory but I could be wrong.

I guess. I wouldn't say courses, but US based, sure.

quote:I believe the top 20 are the only ones who HAVE to play all of the elevated events. I’m assuming a few will be like Ricky and not an actual top player so plenty guys will have more freedom with their schedule.

Like I said, I'm going off of memory, but I think it's all of the guys that will be fully exempt so it's the top 60, but again I could be wrong. I don't think it is really all that relevant either way because there's not more than 20 guys people want to really watch
Posted on 8/24/22 at 8:14 pm to Mingo Was His NameO
There aren’t more than 20 guys you like to watch?

Every week? Not really. Sung Jae Im shooting -3 to be 11 back doesn't really do anything for me.
