Why does the simple act of having student loan debt make one irresponsible?

Having the debt doesn't make a person irresponsible, not paying the debt does.

Take this story as an example. The white guy has student loan debt but he is also a news anchor. This means the education he got from that debt has paid off because he is now in his chosen career path. It also means he likely makes enough money he can pay the debt he chose to take.

He chose to take the debt, he has benefited from that debt, and now he doesn't want to pay it. Not paying the debt makes him irresponsible. Happily accepting some other person's tax dollars to pay off his debt makes him a POS.

Nonsense. There are a multitude of legit, savvy finance reasons why one would chose to not quickly pay back his student loans. Doesn’t make one irresponsible. Often times, prioritizing paying back your loans as quickly as possible isn’t the smart move.
