Disagree.

In game prep both Nuss and Daniels will prep like the starter (which you should do with your backup with a slight lean towards the starter week in and week out). Both will be asked to do progressively more difficult, and very specific, things as part of that prep.

They're looking for consistency first and foremost in the things they have done well as well as improvement in the things they haven't.

That consistency is going to be the end-all be-all shortly. They've identified what they can and should be able to do. From an analytical standpoint if it isn't repeatable it didn't happen and could change things.

I think Daniels has the pole position. It's his to lose. But if that consistency evaporates they will think twice.

I like that the defensive coaches, and of course House, will have some input. They will be able to say who gives them the most fits or difficulty. While not the primary factor... it will be considered.

Rick Neuheisal was talking about this on his show last week. Said as a HC you know very soon but want them competitive and thinking they don’t know.

Anyone that thinks a HC doesn’t know a week before a game is crazy

With Kelly's reputation for changing QBs mid season, it's probably only a temporary announcement.
