If you can crimp wire connectors on the end of wires, it’s pretty easy. I had a coworker install these in separate enclosures with flex conduit but it doesn’t necessarily have to be that intricate either.

Cost.
Like Downshift mentioned, it’s not 100% needed for your AC to operate so you can just remove it if it breaks and your AC will work direct across the line.
Having said that, I had one fail and the compressor would still start up without me having removed it. Contacted MicroAir and they had a new one for me in 3 days.
