I think I have read every book he has written. His earlier books were great, the most recent books have gone downhill starting with the Natchez Burning Trilogy and the most recent I've read Cemetery Road. He's started to let politics really bled into his writings and I think they suffer for it. I've heard he had a pretty big change in his personality/outlook after the bad car wreck he was in and lost part of his leg

Pretty sure he's working on another Penn Cage novel now

That's the only one of his I've tried. He has talent but the politics were a bit heavy handed, and I thought the characters were cliche festivals at times. I gave up on James Lee Burke for pretty much the same reasons, though I liked his early ones.

agree...the rawness of his early work is great and then he became another self righteous woke libtard whose writing reeks of propaganda and pandering.
