I’d like to see this in UFC

Bantam - 135
Feather - 145
Light - 155
Welter - 165
Middle - 185
LHW - 205
Cruiser - 225
Heavy - 225-265

I’ve always wished their was a banger weight class between LHW and Heavy. I think it opens up the sport to new, exciting talents and body types and invites more football built guys to crossover into MMA. Also, a lot of the smaller heavyweights could restart there by cutting to 225 and getting back to 235-240 on fight night. Not all heavyweights are built to rumble with lean 265ers like Francis and Gane.

ETA: I feel like welterweight needs to try and invite the bigger lightweights up and encourage the super tall welterweights up to middle. Hence the 165 for WW.

So you want to add one new weight class and change 170 to 165? Why would you do that? 170 is half-way between 155 and 185. What pressing urge is there to make it 10 pounds from the class below and 20 from the class above as opposed to leaving it like it is, 15 away from the classes on either side?

I also don't see the need for the 225 you are introducing...... 205s step up well as is. DC. Jon Jones will be able to step up...... You are getting diminishing returns on size there. Why introduce a whole new weight class? Prime Fedor would have fought in a different division than prime Lesnar? Just completely unnecessary.

No 240+ pound athlete who cuts to 225 needs protection from bigger guys.
