Right on. Yelp didn’t list that Penn Station location. I live up near Tuttle Mall so that’s a haul. You should give it a try and post a review.
There’s a little place east of downtown called Creole Kitchen that’s pretty decent. It’s not high end or anything. They used to do mostly carry out with only three tables for seating but they added a sit-down dining room a few years ago. There’s a place in Upper Arlington called Gallo’s Kitchen and Bar that’s good. It’s more upscale. Their slogan is “The heart of Italy, the soul of New Orleans” and they serve both cuisines. Their gumbo and etouffe are good, so is their seafood Creole. They make a good crawfish sauce. Their jambalaya tastes like marinara. Manager Tommy Gallo is a good guy. The specials menu changes daily and that’s where you usually find the best offerings.
It’s tough finding good Cajun/Creole/Louisiana cooking in Columbus. I’m always on the lookout for new options. I’m frequently disappointed. Heck, I’d love it if someone would just open a Pappadeux down near campus. Seems like that would have to do okay.
