In reference to what is an offer:

I have two kids that play a major sport in D1 so I’ll use one of them as an example. keep in mind that this isn’t specific to Jordan, it’s merely an example of how different offers can be.

Oldest, plays at a big school but not power 5, received probably half a dozen “offers”. One of which was from lsu-their ultimate dream school. The lsu offer was(in a casual conversation) -“you can come and play here if you want. You won’t get any money and it’s unlikely that you’ll play, but we’d take you here.” Real offer? Yeah i suppose so. But it was honestly just a courtesy to a hometown kid if they wanted to stay home and we’re going to lsu no matter what. No hard feeling. Kid was honestly not quite big enough to start power 5 and they knew that. But it was definitely an honor to get an “offer” to walk on.

Another school-smaller d1 school, came on strong from the beginning. Called one day and offered on the phone that night. Said we’d like to give you a scholarship to attend here. Please come visit and we will give the details. So we go up there coach says “you’re our #1 target. We want you here no matter what. Your offer has no timeline-I will make room for you no matter what. We live your game and You will play here on day one. If you commit somewhere else, your offer here is still good. If you sign somewhere else we will always take you as a transfer-bottom line we want you here.” They hand us a folder with the full offer. All in writing, all signed by the various people that had to approve it. All of it in total detail. Great offer. Obviously had a great chance to play here.

Another coach. Another d1 school calls. “Hey, we’ve seen you play and would love to have you here. I will give you a scholarship to play here but you have to decide soon-gotta finish the class”. We had never been to the school but loved what we saw. We had a few visits scheduled other places and couldn’t get there for a few weeks. By the time we could get a visit we see a social media post of someone committed at their position. Coach calls and sure enough says that the class is now full. Sorry we couldn’t connect good luck. Was it commitable? Yeah if we commit sight unseen and without meeting the coach in person. Also it was obvious my kid was a spot filler. No hard feelings at all it just is what it is.

Another school. Coach calls and says he wants to establish a relationship. So they start talking. Coach calls at least weekly, calls after games so we know he was watching online. Coach has us up for an unofficial visit. Says my kid is the type of character and athlete he wants, but wants to see X and progress in Y and Z. Still calls weekly. Says he notices the changes. Then he comes to some games in person. Then wants to do another visit, unofficial again to get to know the team. It was still a few weeks later before he calls and says he’d like to offer a scholarship, there
Were no details at that time. A few weeks go by, they still talk everyday basically at this point and he’s still going to games, and he finally gives us details on the offer and wants us up for an official visit. Sounded great. At that visit they laid it out in specifics on paper what the offer entailed. Obviously this coach was interested all along but calculated. He was honest all along. My kid plays at this school today and does well. Has really enjoyed it and had a great relationship with the coach.

All of that to give you some perspective of how different one offer can be from another. None of this is specific to JM except that I’m trying to help you understand that there’s offers and then there’s offers. Six weeks ago JM had no offer at all from lsu. He got one the day after bama offered without really being recruited by lsu. That’s the “token offer” I referenced bc that’s what it was. Maybe y’all don’t like the term token? Call it what you will but I hope you can see the difference. Lsu is on him now. Here’s hoping things change in the 11th hour.

You could have saved a lot of typing for everyone had you just explained what you meant when you were asked you to clarify this
