IF this is germans, I apologize in advance to those fellow Tiger fans who cannot wait to pounce on & degrade other Tiger fans who haven't spent all day checking the board & may come across some tidbit they thought would be of interest to someone but didn't realize it was discussed 4 pages back.

A friend of mine sent this email she got & asked me to pass it on to all Tiger fans, so here you go. It sounds like a great idea & another great tradition for Death Valley!

quote:

IT WILL be implemented Saturday.
That's right, as you read this, Athletic Department people are working to start a new tradition at LSU football games. I called Pauline Zernott, Cheerleading Director and Guy Gastor, who is over the gameday Minitron's. They are meeting with the band to discuss who to impelement a new tradition. Here it is.

Never agian will a hush come over Tiger Stadium when an opposing team scores. Pauline's Cheerleaders will be practicing today in starting the L-S-U chant. Thanks to Mark Richts comments and the '04 student section, which Pauline remembered, we are proceeding with getting this in. She is working with the band today to get a drum cadence with it as well. She is also working with the Revielle to notify students of this and handouts may be given on Saturday at the portals. I can tell you she is fired up about this. Although, she should be, she's a cheerleader at heart.

So, be ready, and let's hope it doesn't happen much, for a new tradition looks like it has just been launched and generations long after we will be gone will say,"I wonder what it was like when a visiting team scored and it was quiet in here." Thanks to us, that will never happen.

BTW, if this thing fails, the cheerleaders will shoulder the blame, not B. I just worked to get it in. If it impacted Richt and Georgia, it will impact them all. L-S-U.

Ill never forget it. Stayed up all night to get on Game Day. Almost passed out in the stands I was so tired. When they scored on the screen pass we all got amped up. And then Skyler capping it off right in front of us. fricking incredible. That was the day we became legit.

Ok...so let's get at least this point made before this thread rightfully fades into oblivion: There is no such thing as a NEW tradition. That is a contradiction in terms. It is just a thing you do until you have done it about fifty years.

A couple things:

- How is it a new tradition if it has already been done before?

- Why are we thanking the 04 student section when it was actually the 03 student section that did it against Georgia last time? Sure most of them were the same students, but I hear we lost some key seniors between the 03 and the 04 seasons to the working world and some underclassmen to flunking out.

Is it too much to ask to use the Search function to take the guess work out of the whole "sorry if germans" thing?

So.. what happens after the second or third potential opposing TD's????

That was hands down the best game that I have ever been to....thats including the national championship game a few months later. I can only hope for the same type of performance and atmosphere on Sat.

why does someone always have to find something negative to say on this board?

you get the point..they want to start something that will become tradition. sorry if the phrase new tradition isn't good enough for you. its obviously not a tradition yet thus making it a new tradition. i'll be chanting if i can get tickets

i was there and it was my lil brother's first LSU game (he was 12). We snuck him into the student section and I'm pretty sure that game solidified the purple and gold tradition. Now he's a freshamn and he's returning the favor, he found me a student tix yesterday

I know LSU fans dont do this after every opponent touchdown, but I do remember quite a few times it has been done. Thats why I hate how people are acting like it was only done once. I remember in the National Championship game OSU scored and the LSU crowd started chanting. Good luck getting tickets.

If you do it after every time an opponent scores, I think it takes the "specialness" out of it, and therefore won't pump the players up as much as if it were done spontaneously, as it was vs. UGA in '03.
