It seems like someone would come up with a way to use the back up camera like this and just capture the video all the time.

most come with 2 cameras (3 if you get a system w/ an interior camera but thats mainly for uber drives/liability issues)

yes you will run a cable to the back camera and have to find a place to mount it.

they also come with 'parking lot mode' where the camera will kick on if it detects motion so if someone is screwing with your car you might get video of the incident. this has to attach to a 'hot when off' fuse and include a voltage limiter so it can turn off if your battery level drops below a certain level.

i've researched this a bit and the viofo130 had all those features; you just have to find the right fuses to tap into.
