I meet my eventual wife. She banks with BoA, I do not. I have "X" amount of money with a certain bank to have a line of credit or point deductions on my mortgage. She either has to close her account that may be linked to her car payment or whatever or I have to, which effects my shite. It isn't simple at all for people with assets before they get married. If you get married at 23, sure.
It’s really not that bad. Takes like an hour or two one time to set it all up and consolidate to one checking and one savings.
I get other people like their stuff separate but it’s way easier for us with everything going into and out of one account.
I will say I don’t get the attitude some have where one person makes more money or whatever so they personally have greater latitude to spend. Or they personally have greater responsibility for paying bills. The way we do it is every dime earned is ours and not mine or hers.
