Regarding NAMING NEW TOPICS / Starting Fark Board threads

Folks please be careful to avoid non-specific thread titles on the Fark board.
It really messes things up.
Here are several examples from today's (10-23-08) board:
Titles/Threads like this create problems for the board:
(1) The Fark Board is different. Unlike the Rant, PoliBoard, MoneyTalk, etc, on the Fark Board you often have to fully open a thread just to see what the content is. Whereas simply moving your cursor over a nonspecific title on the other boards gives you an idea as to what the thread's about, often on this board the thread starts with a picture and there's no way to know what the contents are.
For example, scroll over the thread titled "fark" and you'll see computer code for the posted image . . . .
(2) Finding Old Images is a Challenge. Often we'll get requests for reposting a particular older Fark Board image. It's much easier to track these down weeks or months later if the thread title actually gives a hint as to contents.
(3) You are Anchoring your own threads. Generic posts titled "fark this" or "what can you do with this" often get lost in the shuffle. They get pushed down the page by more active threads, and see much less activity no matter how funny the pic or fark is. We've seen low activity on some potentially very funny fodder because of this.
In effect nondescript Titles/Threads anchor themselves.
(4) Spam Equivalent. Similarly named posts appearing all over the Board have the effect of spamming. There is so much clutter it becomes difficult to sort through. That was the reason for requesting sig pic requests, help requests, etc. be moved.
Please help us out with this.
Title your threads in a unique way.
Thanks.

Hey NC,
Would you mind adding a good example of what an appropriate title should look like, so that everyone will get a better idea of the way it should be done? Perhaps, grab an example of a previous posted one or something?

I believe this is a great idea as well. I know I have a low post count but I lurk several times a day and if I had any skills I would do more than laugh Mountain Dew out of my nose from time to time.
Big Easy I believe that these would be a little more helpful.
The "As Much As It Pains Me" could better be called "McCain at the Debate"
"Fark This" could be called "10-20 Keige in a mask"

Yep, that's what I was thinking. I don't really start new threads that often, I typically just find a thread suitable for my pic and drop it in there.

I suppose it isn't possible to have thumbnails instead of thread titles?
