It's probably more of a roster space move than a performance move. He could still get picked up by someone on a minor league deal. He's been hopping around to different clubs this year because he was put on the 40 man roster by the Cardinals.

Not really. It means he's been removed from the 40 man but still has a status within the org. He can be traded or put back on the AAA roster at the end of a specific waiting period. He can also be released, which is actually when you're cut. But that hasn't happened yet.

Good thing they got to celebrate his 1st game in STL earlier this year. Just got booted from his 3rd team this year? What a crazy couple months for him. Wouldn't be a terrible thing for him to get claimed by another organization.
