Don't care what anyone says, but Danny Etling was a decent QB that put in more effort (on the field at least) than any QB that I've seen at LSU for at least a decade before he played.

It would be hard to find a person to argue against that. He just had a lower ceiling, but he probably busted his arse to reach it.

Etling gave LSU everything he had and a lot of respect for him but he is what I want my backup quarterback to be. I definitely pick him over Brandon Harris. Brandon Harris was the one I thought was going to change the quarterback position at LSU because of his arm but he never looked comfortable and always threw the ball 20 yards over the receiver’s head.

It's not very offend teams beat good Alabama teams with decent qb's.

I remember when Les finally put him in against Jackson State in 2016, and for a few moments the LSU offense was exciting to watch again. Etling's ceiling wasn't remarkably high, but he could make reads and could actually place a deep ball from time to time, which compared to Harris and Jennings made him seem remarkable to me.

Les extended his tenure at LSU by a few games for that move alone.
