Alcohol will cause damage to the tissue and impede healing.
Same with peroxide.

As for not draining the abscess. I'm saying an individual at home in an unsterile environment shouldn't be lancing their own abscess. The risk for more infection is too great.

A physician should evaluate any serious infections to determine if draining is necessary. People can cause damage and make things much worse (like around ear, joints, blood vessels, etc.)
