There was a drought in the mid-2000’s. Frisco had patrols that would drive around and look for offenders. They’d put a big red citation in a ziploc bag stapled to a large stake and hammer it in your front yard and then they’d turn off your sprinkler main valve.

The city would remove the stake and turn water back on only after you paid the fine. If they found the stake had been removed prior to that, they’d tack on extra fees. They encouraged neighbors to rat on others.

There was another big drought that ended in Spring 2014 by one of the rainiest Springs in a long time. Area lakes went from over 20’ down to 20’ over pool. If you use the timeline feature on Google Earth to look at satellite images from 2013 and 2014, the change is pretty incredible.
