I'm not denying the situation that exists with pit bulls and the steel jaw. However, do you really believe you could fight off another large breed like a Husky, German Shepard, or Doberman if it was intent on attacking you unprovoked? I doubt I could.

I'm pretty sure anyone could fight off my 120lb lab by asking if he wanted a treat or saying "where's the ball?" And by fight off, I mean keep him from slobbering on them wanting to be petted.

Any reasonably healthy adult human is more than capable of fighting off any dog, you will be bitten but are more than capable of defeating it if you try.
There is a reason we set atop the food chain and are earths deadliest predator.
