Is this a slightly different version of the earlier story (also from New York state) that was said to have happened on Long Island?

wore a cloke of irony if it's the same.
The earlier story inserted the following detail in between his finding his wife and the police and shooting the dog. The phrase basically said when the police arrived, the dog was still chewing on the wife.
Now that'swhat I'd call a disturbing detail.
eta: Albertson is a "hamlet on Long Island", so probably the same.
