Cut em down and treat the stump with Tordon. Expensive but it works.

For larger trees take a 3/8” drill bit and drill down at a 45 degree angle Do this every inch around the tree. Spray herbicide into the hole. Concentrated roundup will work but I use triclopyr or imazipyr Can also hack them with a machete and spray the hacks but make sure the hacks all connect. If you leave too much space, the tree will grow in that space.

Best time is in the fall when the leaves are starting to turn and the tree is taking nutrients down

Triclopyr works great on tallow. Small saplings are wilted the next day.

I used Remedy(60% triclopyr) mixed with diesel. On small trees I brushed it on the stumps for bigger trees I rung the trunk with a chainsaw and brushed it in the cut but I waited until tree was dead before I cut it down so the stumps wouldn't brush out with saplings.

Basal application, 1 part remedy/tryclopyr, 3 parts diesel. Read label on how-to, basically spray to wet the trunk 12-14” from ground.

Dam up the low side and keep them flooded for more than a year.
