When you're backing out of a spot you could be completely blocked from a pedestrian's view. When you're backing in a spot you're starting from the middle of the lane, it would be much harder for a pedestrian to miss you.

It doesn't, because I don't. In fact. I enjoy finding those idiots who back in in a pick-up and pulling right up behind them to their bumper so they can't open their tailgate.
