My new Epiphone Masterbilt Frontier, after 3 weeks of hard playing...

is really coming into it's sound, and it is beautiful. I couldn't be happier with it.
The G string nut slot was cut a little deep at the factory, and the saddle was a bit tall. My friend used a little bone dust and glue, to build up the nut slot and refile it. It's playing pretty well, but with a little work, it's going to be perfect.
I have an unbleached bone nut ordered for it and I think that's going to do the trick. This guitar responds well to different tunings and really booms. Tone and feel are spectacular now, even though I was a little disappointed at first, because it seemed a bit stiff. Electronics are top notch.
These Masterbilt's are incredible values, just expect to do some tweaking on it. It's worth it. I'll be ordering one of the Excellantes soon.

I would like to see a link. I love the look of those gaudy sombiches, The combination of woods is bound to sound unique. The maple neck combined with the other woods is bound to be incredible, especially for thumb picking rhythms
on the top strings. Should be a very focused sound.

Thanx, I already found it and watched it. Confirms what I suspected: Absolute chimey articulation due to the wood combination. If it didn't have the thick pickguard, it would probably be so bright that you couldn't stand it.
Like him, I've never played, or even seen one in person, but I will order one as soon as I can. Can't go wrong.
The Epiphone Masterbilt Frontiers are selling so well, Gibson has just started building them at their Montana factory with Epiphone USA labels and really cosmetically fancier woods, starting around 3200 bucks.

He's a big fan of the Epiphone Inspired by Gibson series, not sure if this falls under that or not, there seems a lot of similarities between that series and the Masterbilts.
This is truly the best time of guitar building, you can get great quality instruments very affordably.

They are the same thing, made in the same shop. The difference being that the 'inspired by Gibson models" were originally Gibson models, like the Hummingbird. The Masterbilts are reissues of Epiphone models, like the Frontier and Excellante.

I own 2 acoustic guitars—a Taylor 615CE and an Epiphone Masterbilt DR-500MCE.
I hardly ever touch the Taylor. The Epiphone blew me away the first time I played it, and it’s only getting better with time.
