Dumb.

The two situations are not alike at all.
Joe Burrow graduated from Ohio St, fought in a QB battle, didn’t win. Transferred as a graduate to seek another QB battle.

There were some posters on here that weren't thrilled with the prospects of Burrow's transfer because they felt LSU should go with one of the guys already on the roster. Of course, the majority of fans watched the spring game in 2018 and saw there were some BIG concerns at the QB spot

As for the NIL stuff, I hate to break it to you, but there have LONG been players that attended schools, including LSU, almost solely because of the financial "incentives" promised them. NIL has just kind of put that all out into the open. And with the fact there is so little regulation on the practice right now there is not a huge risk for guys taking the initial money.

Let's say you are a Louisiana prospect from a middle to low income family. (Boosters) of out of state school A is offering you a deal for life-changing money. More than what LSU is offering. That is very hard for a kid and his family to turn down.

He takes the money and attends the out of state school. There are no "contracts" with respect to the money. He essentially gets paid for his signature. Then, after year 1 let's say the kid doesn't like the school, his teammates, his coaches, his playing time, the town in which he lives, he misses his friends and family, or any number of reasons. The one free transfer rule then allows him to become a "free agent" for a second time. If he's good enough schools, including LSU, will pay. Now he's cashed in twice and, in many cases, hasn't played significant snaps.

He may have always "liked" LSU, but the money another school offered was too much to turn down. However, if he's good enough, he knows he could likely end up at LSU anyway if things don't work out at his first school. That's the way kids are looking at this.

That line made me think back and cringe. What a TURNAROUND from that spring game to winning a NC in Jan 2020 with the best team that ever suited up in college football.

Can't wait to see what CBK accomplishes as we move forward.
