It’s an absolute necessity in every class to walk away with a few big guys to man the trenches and dating back to April, was a primary focus for Brian Polian and this recruiting staff when looking at the class goals. As part of its recent commitment frenzy in July, the Tigers picked up Georgia offensive lineman Paul Mubenga to join this talented group of prospects.
Mubenga might not be a household name of this class so far but his addition to the Tigers hints at more o-linemen to come and carries significance on and off the field. When Geaux247 caught up with Mubenga a couple of days ago, a commitment seemed in the distance but the program stood on solid ground.

“Mubenga's back story is obviously intriguing in relation to his long-term upside," 247Sports Gabe Brooks said. "His sample size to date is somewhat limited compared to many other linemen in his class, but what he showed in Fall 2021 as a junior is encouraging. He's pretty light on his feet -- and he showed that at least one elite camp in the spring -- and flashes some heavy-handedness at the point of attack. His soccer background no doubt should help his lateral ability. He plays with consistent effort and looks for extra work when it's available. Mubenga's participation in the shot put probably helps his close-quarters punch power and adds valuable multi-sport context. Perhaps Mubenga's best trait is his potential to provide roster value as a player who can fill in just about anywhere. He owns above-average length with the base of an interior player, and as he continues to hone his technique and add mass, he possesses real developmental potential given his tool box."

I firmly believe he’ll be an NFL first-round level talent by the time he leaves LSU. The O-line coaching staff, strength program, and nutrition are elite under CBK

This guy will 100% be a solid 4 star player at some point and will be a huge contributor when he gets to LSU. Great get by Brad Davis and this staff

Can you imagine this guy coming at you on a soccer field

Love the back story. Feels like they’re projecting and looking at the raw skills, which he has in spades. In addition to upside, seems like he’ll be a good locker room/character/culture addition. Great first step for this OL class.

I think he’s only 16 too.

Let’s be honest, guys like this are a total coin flip. He can end up a first round pick or he can never see the field.
