Tolkien would have been pissed at the Jackson trilogy, specifically leaving out the Scouring of the Shire. Christopher Tolkien did hate the Jackson trilogy. While I think they would have added the Scouring of the Shire to the Extended Edition if they knew in advance how successful those were going to be, if Tolkien and his son hated those wonderful movies, then they sure as fricking shite would hate this. Just Galadriel having a sword would be dumbfounding to the two of them and is an insult to Galadriel’s power.

Because it wasn’t truly complete. He intended for the Silmarillion to be part of the Lord of the Rings, but his publisher passed on that, which was probably a good move by them.

But that was due to the fricking studios demanding that he make it a trilogy when there was not enough material to do it. He pulled off all the scenes he needed to get right and then winged the rest since he wasn’t given enough time and they wanted way too much footage out of Jackson.
