Compared to national title teams? They have one top 10 win and very close games against two teams outside the top 15

3 of the last 4 national champs have far better seasons alone

VT had the ball down 2 with a couple of minutes to go near midfield.

7-5 BC was down 12-7 and had the ball I believe inside the Miami 10 yardline with around :20 seconds to go.

There's probably a long list of national champs who never had 1 game that close in the 4th, 2019 LSU certainly doesn't. 2001 Miami has 2, and again, 1 to a 7-5 team where they were 9 yards away from a loss.
