Will be there next week for the Connie Mack World Series. Never been to New Mexico, so flying into Albuquerque and making the 3 hour drive. Any recs, things to do, see? Definitely plan to get to 4 corners at some point.

Farmington is a wasteland of a city. However, Durango, CO is only an hour north and it is one of the best places in the country. Really good restaurants, hiking, rafting, camping. The Durango - Silverton Railroad trip is also great if you have time.

Agree with the above poster. I've been to Farmington and it's a shithole. Definitely go check out Durango.
ETA: As for visiting Four Corners - it's a pretty far drive for a pretty disappointing site. The 4 corners marker is in the middle of nowhere and there is nothing else around. Don't expect some nice visitor's center or anything. And the 4 corners marker isn't even at the actual 4 corners of the states, it's actually quite a ways away, but it's the closest point that people could easily get to, so they just dropped the marker there.

Fish the San Juan River. Cool clear river running right through the High Desert

Durango really is beautiful. Quick story. First time I visited Durango my brother and I were driving through town when we heard a news flash on the local radio station that local officials were at the Animas river which runs through Durango and they were in the process of fishing out a body. We happened to be driving right by the spot so we got out and went up to the fence as they were fishing out the nude body of a woman. I will never forget the site of her body bouncing like a 6 ft. long 2x12 board on the bottom of that flat boat. She had wounds all over her body I assume from hitting the rocks as she floated down this fast flowing river. That night on the local news they reported that the woman had 5 children and her husband had left her so she jumped in the river. Really put a damper on our vacation.

New Mexico is awesome. Farmington is not. Unless you’re into freeride mountain biking (think Redbull Rampafe). Then it’s awesome and on your must visit list.

Stay at Casablanca B&B. Definitely drive to Chaco Canyon NP and see the ruins.
