Good morning fellas
One of the dust caps on my dexter bearings came off and i have a replacement. The cap is threaded and after an hour of trying to get it on with no success I have come to the OB for help. Do I need to jack the trailer up on that side to get the weight off or am I missing something else?

Are they older? The newer Dexter caps don't fit the older tie down hubs.

Thanks for the reply. It’s a 2022. I just figured out that the cap actually broke inside and the old threads were still in. After 2 gal of sweat I got it out and put the new one on.

Mike Gerald's Trailer Depot carries those...
I keep a couple in the boat...
overtightened the cap once...it cracked and spun off...
3 am at the launch to duck hunt and found out I was damn lucky to make it to the launch...

You might consider getting aftermarket metal caps. Some of the bass boat guys make them, the plastic ones do seem to break pretty regularly.

I don't know if it was Nitro boats having them made or one of their dealers, but guys on Bass Boat Central have been switching over to metal caps for the past couple of years. The issue of them not fitting comes up every couple of months over there.
