Kind of related:
Years ago, when I did collect vintage LSU memorabilia (hence my user name), I found on eBay an 8mm home movie. The box said “LSU vs Tulane 62-0”. I knew we beat Tulane three times in five years with the score of 62-0 (1958 & two in early 60’s).
I bought the film for $10. I send it off to get placed on DVD. When I got it back, I discovered it was the 1958 game, basically the National Championship game.
Unfortunately, there was so much filmed the first half, only about half of the third quarter was filmed, and none of the fourth quarter.
I did see a super clear play where a friend’s dad (Scooter Purvis) was running out right to run block, he gets leveled. Mr. Scooter is not a big guy, 5’7” maybe. That giant Tulane DB laid him out like rag doll. I showed Mr. Scooter the play and he says he remembers that play like it was yesterday. He said it rung his bell.
I sold the movie and DVD for something like $500. Probably worth about $2000 now.
Questions:
Are you the one that bought the film from me?
Do you have the 78 Kentucky bball game? It was my first ever LSU game (in any sport). I was there with my Cub Scout group. I don’t remember the actual game, I only remember the crowd was going crazy.
