2022 Fantasy Football Keeper Questions Thread
Posted on 7/9/22 at 10:37 am

I thought it might be easy to have one thread about keepers instead of hundreds of them scattered all across the board.
State your scoring system, roster requirements and league size along with your question.
I'll start us off.
Ten team, full PPR, superflex league. All TDs are worth 6 points. One point for every ten rushing/receiving yards.
16 roster spots.
Lineup options:
Number of starting QBs 1-2
Number of starting RBs 0-3
Number of starting WRs 2-5
Number of starting TEs 1-2
Number of starting DEF 1
My options:
• Jonathan Taylor at a 3rd round value
• Austin Ekeler at a 4th round value
• Justin Herbert at a 5th round value
• Trey Lance at a 12th round value.
I will be drafting at the 1.09 slot in a snake draft.
I'm tempted to take Lance at that insane value, but I'm not sold on him yet and keeping him would only be due to his potential upside.
Being a superflex league, the elite QBs fly off of the board in a hurry, so I'm also tempted to ride with Herbert at his current value.
Everything in me says don't even think twice and keep Jonathan Taylor, but Ekeler provides more value.
Even though this is a super flex league, I still feel that RB is the most important position in any fantasy league due to the simple fact that the number of elite running backs is small. Plus, I typically don't draft a QB until round 8 or later. That obviously changes a bit with being able to start two QBs.
Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I would keep Herbert in a superflex league with 6 point passing tuddies
Taylor is the 2nd choice, don’t get cute taking the round difference on Ekeler
Lance will go before the 12th but you have 3 other excellent options, ride with those instead

.5 PPR
Cam Akers in 6th Round
Travis Ettiene in 13th Round
Ettiene is just such an unknown. The value is obviously in his favor, but Akers is on maybe the best offense in the league and 6th round value is a steal for him as well.

That's a tough one, but you're right. Etienne is an unknown commodity right now. You know Cam will be used by McVay in that offense. What are their ADPs?

I would keep Entienne and take the risk. Your gonna kick yourself if he ends up a stud. That value there is crazy bc he is going in the 4th or 5th round. He has so much talent too

1qb
2wr
2rb
1te
2flex (no qb)
K
PPR normal scoring
My best keep options are
Dalvin Cook 1st
Keenan Allen 3rd
Josh Allen 4th
Nearly 90% keeping Josh Allen even though QB is so deep

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of drafting QBs very early but keeping Allen in the 4th round allows you to focus on skill positions in the early rounds. The number of RBs in tiers 1 and 2 isn't high. Cook would fall into tier 2 for me, but we don't know how that new offensive scheme in Minnesota is going to look. By all accounts, it will be more focused on the passing game, so does that mean Cook gets fewer rushing attempts? Will he be used more in the passing game? Or does this new offensive scheme put so much stress of the opposing defense that he has more room to run?
Some things to consider:
• What position do you value the most? I always think about scarcity of supply and demand here.
• What is your draft position?
• What other players will likely be kept by other owners?
• If you don't keep Cook, will you have an opportunity to grab another elite RB in the first round?
• If you don't keep Allen, how long do you think it will be before he is selected by another team?

Def running back.
I just don’t have that much keep value other than Keenan or josh allen

Sorry about missing this thread and starting another one...
12 team league, 18 player rosters. I can keep someone 3x at the round 2 better than they were drafted (moving up 2 rounds each year I keep them after). FAs are kept as a 12th and if you have multiple guys that are to be kept in a round, one of them moves up a round. Players drafted in first 2 rounds can't be kept.
During COVID, we voted to go to 18 player rosters and then decided to stay with it. Last year, I used the extra 2 slots for Etienne and D. Watson for the purposes of keeping or trading.
Standard lineups and PPR scoring. I have the 6th pick due to our crappy consolation ladder.
Planning on keeping:
QB Herbert - 10th round (2nd time keeping)
RB Elijah Mitchell - 11th round (was a FA I traded for when I tanked)
RB Travis Etienne - 12th round (drafted in 14th)
I know I have a month until I need to declare my keepers, but I want to spend the time trying to trade the guys below for improved draft slots (or another 12th for both Mitchell and Etienne). Is there anyone below that you would keep in place of someone above?
QB Watson - 13th round keeper (if he gets less than a full yr suspension, maybe someone will want him due to cheap keeper futures)
RB Cordarelle Patterson - 12th round keeper
WR Diontae Johnson - 2nd round keeper
WR Elijah Moore - 11th round keeper
TE Schultz - 12th round keeper
TE Freiermuth - 12th round keeper

I lean Schultz b/c he's being ranked TE6 right now. Depending on what your cap is, Cooks at $6 is a good value but it is still the Houston offense.

Thanks for the response, yea it's a tough one. Our draft cap is $200.

There's talk that Penny has that job locked up and could be looking at 20 touches a game.
He could be a good play for $1

I think they are both worth late pick flyers. However, the fact that Penny is on his contract year, injury prone, and Seattle rebuilding leads me to believe that walker will take over the majority of the workload by mid season.

OK, now that Watson appears to only be suspended for 6 games...
Would you keep:
Watson in round 13 (and can be kept twice more...with an 11th and then a 9th)
or
Herbert with a 10th (and can be kept once more if I wanted...with an 8th).
Already planning on keeping my RB2 and RB3 (Etienne and Elijah Mitchell) with my 11th and 12 rounders.
Leaning towards keeping Herbert and trading Watson for better draft position but could be talked into doing the opposite.
Standard PPR scoring with...
Passing TDs = 5 pts
Rush/Rec TDs = 7 pts

I think you're on the right track. I'd do just as you said. Keep Herbert and try to see what you can get for Watson.

.4 PPR, standard league with 2 RBs, 2WRs, 1 TE, 1 Flex. I get to pick one on each team. Pretty sure I know where I am going, just wanted to get other takes.
Based on ADP, Chase in the 4th is a no brainer
- Mike Evans in the 3rd
- Ja'Marr Chase in the 4th
- Matt Stafford in the 6th
For my other team, I would think Williams is the obvious pick, since he is a top 15 player. However, getting Marquise Brown in the 11th has me wondering if I am overthinking it.
- Javonte Williams in the 6th
- James Conner in the 7th
- Brandin Cooks in the 8th
- Marquise Brown in the 11th

I agree with you on keeping Chase for your one team.
I'd be tempted to keep Connor at a 7th round value in your other league. I don't know how much the addition of Darrell Williams will impact his goal line touches, but Connor is definitely ther main runner in that offense.
Also, Melvin Gordon is still in Denver and I don't know how long it will take Williams to earn enough of the Carrie's to consider that to be solely his job.

1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE Standard scoring. I can keep three for the round indicated:
Mixon - 15th - Franchise keeper
Hurts - 12th
Elijah Mitchell - 14th
J.K. Dobbins - 6th
Javonte Williams - 5th
To me, Mixon and Hurts are no brainers.
My real questions are:
1. Will Mitchell be the guys this year in SF?
2. Will Dobbins start early and/or have a slow recovery year?
3. Will Williams have enough value with Gordon still there?

For that third keeper, I'd go with Mitchell with zero hesitation. That value is way too good.
