Some good comments on here. But how old are your kids and what activities are they into, that is a big consideration along with your budget. Many good areas here for sure. My 3rd time to lIve in Austin. Good area overall but pick the area best for the Family.

Moved to austin from BR 4 years ago.

Heat is certainly there but low humidity makes shade work the way it should. Also, almost always a breeze. Anyone who says it’s worse than Louisiana heat is lying.

I bought a home right on the edge of Austin off 290. Essentially Manor. This area is booming and you can be downtown in 30 and to the airport in 20.

Our kids are 5 and 3. Older one goes to kindergarten and younger one is still in daycare. As a family we like hiking, biking, kayaking etc. Standard family fare. The moderate temps in California allows us to do most of those things pretty much throughout the year.
